The AI-Driven Enterprise Institute (AIDE) recently unveiled its 2026 Index, evaluating the Artificial Intelligence (AI) maturity of S&P 500 Index component companies and their leadership. The research revealed substantial disparities in AI maturity among these large corporations.

Evaluation Criteria and Company Categorization

AIDE scored companies based on four key pillars: identification capabilities, advocacy, direction-setting, and operational implementation. Based on these scores, companies were categorized into 'AI Pioneers', 'AI Visionaries', 'Stealth Adopters', and the relatively lagging 'Emerging Adopters'. Specifically, oil services firm SLB secured the top position.
