Hong Kong-Kazakhstan Cooperation: John Lee Announces Substantial Achievements
Hong Kong Chief Executive John Lee held a press conference during his visit to Kazakhstan, stating that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government had achieved substantial results in cooperation with the Kazakhstan government. In particular, the two sides signed 43 memoranda of understanding and cooperation agreements across various fields, including economy, trade, investment, financial services, science and technology education, aviation, and green finance. These agreements include the launch of direct flights from Hong Kong to Almaty, Kazakhstan by a Hong Kong airline in the first quarter of next year, enhanced cooperation in artificial intelligence and digital development, strengthened collaboration between Hong Kong's three innovation parks and the Astana International Financial Centre, and the establishment of a green finance ecosystem. Hong Kong also plans to co-invest $100 million in Kazakhstan to build a regional blood purification product manufacturing center.
Hong Kong Police Arrest Parents for Infant Neglect; Legislative Council President Emphasizes Executive-Legislative Collaboration
Regarding reports of an infant being neglected at home in Hong Kong, Security Bureau Secretary Chris Tang announced that police found the infant and sent the child to the hospital. Two individuals claiming to be the infant's parents were arrested on charges of 'child neglect.' Tang added that the alleged parents failed to provide birth certificates or prenatal records and were uncooperative with DNA testing. Meanwhile, Legislative Council President Andrew Leung emphasized that the executive and legislative branches are performing their respective duties, with the common goal of ensuring that government policies are better implemented and that citizens feel the benefits. He urged legislators to prepare thoroughly before speaking, to reflect facts and public opinions, and asked officials to respect the content of legislators' speeches.
