The incident occurred around 10:00 AM on June 2nd at a bus stop. Ishii allegedly forcibly pulled the victim off the bus and then slashed his left cheek with a folding knife before fleeing the scene. Police apprehended the suspect approximately 1 km away in a residential area.

During police questioning, Ishii stated, "I didn't intend to kill him, but the sound of the newspaper opening was annoying." The victim reportedly said, "I had no intention of getting off the bus, but I was forcibly pulled down."
