Foundation Tests Military Humanoid Robots in Ukraine Battlefield
Foundation's 'Phantom MK-1' Military Robot Tested in Ukraine
US robotics startup Foundation Future Industries (Foundation) has successfully completed its first field test of an autonomous humanoid robot on the Ukrainian battlefield, where it performed supply delivery missions. Founded just two years ago, Foundation aims to apply this robot technology to heavy industry production and frontline military operations. Conducted with US government support and cooperation from Ukrainian officials, this marks the first known deployment of humanoid robots in a combat zone.
Future US Military Integration and Upgrades Planned
Earlier this year, Foundation sent two 'Phantom MK-1' robots to Ukraine to demonstrate their capability in transporting approximately 20kg (44 pounds) of supplies. While the current MK-1 has limitations such as limited battery life and lack of waterproofing, Foundation plans to release an upgraded 'Phantom 2' version later this year. They anticipate commencing frontline tests with the US military within the next 18 months. Sankaet Pathak, CEO of Foundation, emphasized that robotics technology has reached a point where it can replace humans in dangerous jobs, calling it the highest net benefit robotics can create across all applications.
