Father Arrested for Son's Murder
In Narita City, Chiba Prefecture, a 66-year-old suspect, Toshihiko Yoshii, was arrested on May 30th on suspicion of murdering his 11-year-old son, Taisei. According to the police, Yoshii was discovered after the principal of his son's elementary school reported Taisei's absence. When police arrived at their home, the entrance and windows were locked. Inside, Yoshii and Taisei were found collapsed. Taisei was pronounced dead at the scene, with several days having passed since his death. Yoshii was transported to a hospital and subsequently arrested after his discharge.
Suspected Forced Parent-Child Suicide Due to Financial Hardship
During police questioning, Yoshii admitted to the charges, stating, 'I strangled my child at home.' According to investigative sources, Yoshii reportedly told authorities that he was 'financially distressed and felt he couldn't leave his son behind,' indicating a possible attempt at a forced parent-child suicide. Taisei's mother passed away 10 years ago, and Yoshii and Taisei had been living alone in the apartment. Neighbors testified that Yoshii always accompanied his son to and from school and that they appeared to have a close relationship.
