Man Arrested in Quezon City After Rampage and Gun Threat
Gun Rampage Incident in Quezon City Residential Area
In Barangay Amihan, Quezon City, Philippines, a man caused a disturbance and threatened neighbors with firearms on May 15, early in the morning. CCTV footage shows teenagers quickly fleeing a basketball court painting session after the man appeared. The man, armed with a long rifle and a handgun, intimidated residents, specifically pointing a gun at Barangay Kagawad Oliver Gordovez.
Neighbor's Vehicles Damaged and Standoff with Police
Gordovez, feeling threatened by the armed man, retreated and called the police. Upon the police's arrival, the suspect retreated into his home and continued his rampage. From the second floor of his house, he began throwing objects at parked vehicles belonging to his neighbors. The Concepcion family's van sustained a broken windshield and a dented hood after being hit by a sculpture and an LPG tank. Other vehicles were also damaged. Believing the suspect to be armed, the police did not immediately enter and maintained an overnight standoff.
Suspect Apprehended with Previous Record
By approximately 7 AM the next day, police, with the assistance of another Kagawad, convinced the suspect to surrender. Authorities recovered a replica submachine gun, a 9mm handgun, and ammunition from him. According to the Quezon City Police District, this was not the first time the suspect had caused a disturbance; he had done so three days prior, but no charges were filed due to lack of official reports from the victims. Kagawad Gordovez stated that this time, all legal steps would be taken to ensure the suspect faces appropriate charges. The suspect is currently in custody at the Quezon City Police District Station 9 Anonas Police Station and is expected to face multiple complaints.
