Cognex Launches 'In-Sight 3900' AI Vision System Powered by Qualcomm
Cognex Leads AI Vision Market with 'In-Sight 3900'
Cognex Corporation, a global leader in industrial machine vision, has unveiled its new In-Sight® 3900 Vision System. Built on Cognex's new embedded Artificial Intelligence (AI) vision technology and powered by the Qualcomm Dragonwing™ platform, the In-Sight 3900 is a fully integrated vision system. It delivers industry-leading speed, accuracy, and resolution at the edge without the need for an external PC, enabling manufacturers to tackle demanding inspection tasks while maintaining throughput and ease of operation.
Matt Moschner, Chairman and CEO of Cognex, stated, "The In-Sight 3900 represents a significant leap forward in the capabilities of embedded AI vision on the factory floor." Manufacturers no longer have to choose between inspection depth and line speed. The system developed by Cognex offers the best of both worlds, along with the reliability and ease of use that Cognex is known for.
High-Speed AI Vision: Balancing Productivity and Precision
The In-Sight 3900 fundamentally addresses the trade-off between inspection depth and line speed inherent in traditional vision systems. It combines Cognex's Edge AI, advanced AI, and rule-based vision tools with high-performance embedded computing, allowing for precise, real-time inspections at full production line speeds. This supports applications across next-generation packaging, automotive, electronics, and consumer goods industries.
Andrea Sabbadini, Engineering Manager at Fuji Seal, noted that the In-Sight 3900 enabled them to "deploy Cognex's Edge AI Read tools at full production speed, with no impact on throughput." This resulted in a more robust inspection process, quicker deployment across production lines, and simpler maintenance. The system boasts up to 4 times faster inspection run speeds compared to previous generation Cognex vision systems and supports high-resolution imaging up to 25 MP.
