Hong Kong: Murder-Suicide in Tai Wan Home
Murder-Suicide Discovered in Tai Wan Home
A tragic murder-suicide incident took place at Tai Wan Home, Ma On Shan, Hong Kong, where a 77-year-old man and a 71-year-old woman were found deceased inside their residence. Police investigations revealed that the couple, who were formerly married, had a deteriorating relationship following their divorce. The situation worsened after the woman's child passed away in 2018. In 2024, the woman filed for divorce, leading to a provisional divorce decree issued by the court on February 28, 2025. The court had mandated a one-year separation period, during which they lived in separate residences in mainland China and Hong Kong to avoid conflicts.
Escalation of Domestic Disputes and Divorce Conflicts
The police stated that the couple had resided in the same flat for over 20 years, experiencing frequent disputes due to differing lifestyles. The woman recently wished for the man to return and live with her in Hong Kong. However, the man refused and requested assistance in finding another flat in Wong Tai Sin, which the woman reportedly helped secure. Authorities believe that the incident stemmed from their long-standing conflicts and recent cohabitation issues. The police urged the public to seek professional help if they experience emotional distress or difficulties, emphasizing the importance of mental well-being.
