AI Puts One Fifth of London Jobs at Risk: Report
AI Threatens One Million London Jobs
A report published by City Hall indicates that at least one million jobs held by Londoners are either "highly or significantly exposed" to the impact of artificial intelligence (AI). Over 300,000 administrative roles face the highest risk of automation, as their clerical tasks closely align with GenAI capabilities.
Women, Youth, and Highly Educated Most Vulnerable
The report further states that 748,000 roles in sectors like IT, data analysis, and secretarial work are also at risk. Women, who are overrepresented in administrative and clerical positions, along with young people and those with higher educational levels, are identified as among the most exposed groups. London Mayor Sir Sadiq Khan warned that a "hands-off approach [to AI] could cause significant harm to London's labour market."
