AI makes entry-level jobs harder to land, boosting skilled workers
AI Squeezes Entry-Level Job Opportunities
A new report from the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas finds that Artificial Intelligence (AI) is simultaneously creating two effects in the labor market. It is shrinking opportunities for young and entry-level workers in fields most exposed to AI, while at the same time increasing pay for more experienced employees whose expertise is harder for software to replicate.
Skilled Workers Benefit from AI Shift
The data suggests that landing a first job in industries heavily reliant on AI tools is becoming more challenging. However, those who build experience and acquire the right mix of skills can eventually benefit from higher pay and more resilient careers. Laura Ward, president and CEO of Workforce Solutions Greater Dallas, noted that despite AI taking some entry-level jobs, the need for 'durable skills' persists.
