China Condemns White House Dinner Shooting

China has issued a strong condemnation of the recent shooting incident at a White House Correspondents' Association dinner in Washington D.C., stating it consistently opposes and condemns all unlawful and violent acts. US officials have indicated that President Donald Trump and his administration officials were the probable targets of the attack, which occurred during a high-profile gathering.

Ukraine Nuclear Plant Attack and Iran Peace Talks

A Ukrainian drone strike on the Russian-occupied Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant has resulted in the death of a transport worker. The plant, currently in a cold shutdown near the frontline, remains a key point of contention in stalled peace talks concerning the war in Ukraine. Concurrently, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has attributed the failure of peace talks in Pakistan to the United States, citing excessive demands that derailed progress. He made these remarks in Russia ahead of a meeting with President Vladimir Putin.

Hormuz Passage and Pakistan's Trade Routes

Ahead of his arrival in Russia, Iran's Foreign Minister emphasized that ensuring safe passage through the Strait of Hormuz is a global issue. This statement comes amidst ongoing US-Iran tensions and competing restrictions in the vital waterway. Separately, Pakistan has opened six land routes for transporting goods to Iran under bank guarantees. This move addresses delays linked to disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz and Iranian ports, which left over 3,000 containers stranded at Karachi Port.
