The Onion Signs Deal to Take Over Alex Jones' Infowars
The Onion to License Infowars
Satirical faux-news site The Onion has signed a new, restructured deal to take over Infowars from conspiracy peddler Alex Jones. Under the new terms, The Onion would license Infowars from Gregory Milligan, the court-appointed manager of the site since August 2025. This arrangement replaces the parent company Global Tetrahedron's initial attempt to buy its assets outright for US$1.75 million in a 2024 auction. The new agreement was submitted Monday to Texas state Judge Maya Guerra Gamble.
Details of the Restructured Agreement
The previous attempt by Global Tetrahedron involved directly purchasing the assets of Infowars. However, the current agreement shifts to a licensing model, with The Onion securing rights from Gregory Milligan, who has been overseeing the site. This change in terms suggests a revised strategy for managing the controversial platform and navigating its legal complexities, moving away from a direct acquisition to a licensing arrangement.
