Iranian Protesters Dismiss Trump's Blockade Threat, Claim US Strategy 'Desperate'
Iranian Protests React to Trump's Threats
Thousands of demonstrators rallied in Tehran on April 13, 2026, in support of the Iranian government and its military. The protests come amidst heightened tensions following US President Donald Trump's recent statements regarding a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz and reports of the US military preventing ships from leaving Iranian ports. Milad Esabati, an Iranian protester, stated, "The recent development regarding a blockade, or claim of a blockade, and the remarks US President Donald Trump made about the fast ships… what it essentially shows is that Trump's statements and actions during these 40-50 days of war clearly demonstrate that the United States has reached a point of desperation and helplessness in confronting Iran's capabilities."
Trump's Promises Deemed 'Empty Threats'
Another protester, Zahra, dismissed President Trump's threats as "empty promises." She remarked, "For example, Trump said he would strike many of our power plants and infrastructure. He said he would come and take one of our islands, but none of his promises were fulfilled." Zahra added, "This is just another promise like the others. All of them are empty. We are not afraid of his threats and we have no fear at all." The demonstration occurred after recent US-Iran peace talks in Islamabad broke down.
