Legal Conflict Over Kapoor Family Trust Escalates
A bitter legal dispute has intensified between Rani Kapoor, mother of the late Indian billionaire Sunjay Kapoor, and his daughter-in-law, Priya Sachdev Kapoor, over the control of the RK Family Trust. Rani Kapoor claims that Priya misused her position and removed her as a trustee. In turn, Priya has removed Rani Kapoor and is challenging the legality of the trust itself.
Complexities of Sunjay Kapoor's Inheritance Feud
Rani Kapoor alleges that Priya manipulated her into signing documents while she was grieving, just three days after Sunjay Kapoor's death, rendering the signatures null and void. She further accuses Priya of attempting to seize control of her house and all assets. Vaibhav Gaggar, Rani Kapoor's lawyer, stated that Priya has challenged the formation of the RK Family Trust in the High Court and attempted to remove Rani Kapoor as a trustee based on a specific clause. However, Gaggar argues that this clause does not empower Priya to do so. Rani Kapoor maintains good relations with her former daughter-in-law, Karisma Kapoor, and regularly meets her grandchildren, Samaira and Kiaan.
