Arrest for False Reporting Using AI-Modified Videos
U.S. Marshals and the San Juan Municipal Police have arrested 22-year-old Alexis J. Martínez Arizala in San Juan. He is accused of reporting false crimes using videos manipulated with artificial intelligence (AI). San Juan Mayor Miguel Romero confirmed the arrest, stating that Martínez Arizala was apprehended in the Barrio Obrero area as part of an operation coordinated with the San Juan office of the U.S. Marshals.
Prank Videos Provoking Police and Social Impact
According to authorities, Martínez Arizala approached a San Juan Municipal Police officer at a fast-food restaurant on April 6, showing an AI-altered video that made it appear someone had stolen the officer's patrol car. He later claimed it was a prank, recording the interaction and posting it on social media. Juan Jackson Rodríguez, Commissioner of the San Juan Municipal Police, emphasized the seriousness of such conduct, noting it could have had greater consequences. Martínez Arizala and another individual reportedly engage in social media confrontations by provoking police and civilians with these altered videos.
