NBI Rescues Victims, Arrests 5 Chinese for Human Trafficking in Parañaque
NBI Raids Parañaque House, Arrests Human Trafficking Suspects
In an operation in an exclusive subdivision in Parañaque City, the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) NCR rescued two victims and arrested five Chinese nationals. The operation was initiated after one of the victims secretly reported their predicament to a friend. According to the NBI investigation, the victim was lured to the house on March 29, confined, and prevented from leaving. Their mobile phone was confiscated, and as an IT expert, they were forced to work on online love scams and phishing operations.
Victims Allege Abuse and Deportation Threats
During their captivity, the victim claimed they were physically abused and threatened with death if they failed to comply or attempted to escape. Video evidence showed visible marks on the victim's back, consistent with physical abuse. Atty. Melvin Matibag, NBI Director, stated that the suspects are facing charges of serious illegal detention, kidnapping, and physical injuries. The five Chinese suspects have been charged with serious illegal detention under the Revised Penal Code. The NBI is coordinating with the Bureau of Immigration to verify the legal status of the arrested foreign nationals and determine if they violated immigration laws, which could result in their deportation.
