Official statistics show that about 28 percent of Hong Kong's population, or over 2 million Hongkongers, left the city during the first four days of the Easter break. The number of outgoing Hong Kong residents increased by 14.34 percent to 2.12 million between last Friday and Monday.
F&B Sector Faces Business Downturn
The significant outflow of residents has greatly affected the local food and beverage sector. An industry leader stated that businesses in this sector experienced a major slump due to the mass departure. Concurrently, the number of inbound visitors from mainland China was 411,972, marking a 16.13 percent year-on-year increase.
