Filipina Confirmed Among Casualties in Israel Missile Attack
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has confirmed that a Filipina was among those killed in a missile attack in Haifa, Israel on April 5. The DFA has informed the family of the 29-year-old Filipina about the incident and is expediting the repatriation of her remains. The Israeli Embassy in the Philippines identified the Filipina as Lucille Jane Gershovich.
According to local media reports, a ballistic missile fired by Iran struck the apartment building where the Filipina, her Israeli husband, and his parents resided, resulting in their deaths. This marks the second Filipina casualty in the Middle East since the United States and Israel initiated their war against Iran.
President Marcos Jr. Offers Condolences and Assistance
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. extended his condolences to the family of the Filipina who died in the missile attack. The President has directed relevant agencies to provide full assistance to the family and to ensure the immediate repatriation of her remains. President Marcos Jr. also affirmed that the government continues to monitor the situation in the Middle East and reiterated that the safety of every Filipino remains the government's foremost priority.
