Seongnam City Accelerates Physical AI Talent Development
Seongnam City is recruiting students for the 'Seongnam Physical AI Academy' to cultivate key talent in the 'Physical AI' sector, which combines the physical world with artificial intelligence (AI). This academy, entrusted to the industry-academia cooperation단 of Gachon University, aims to select 30 unemployed youths (aged 19-34) residing in Seongnam, or current/graduating students from local universities. Selected trainees will undergo an intensive 7-month, 1076-hour training program from May 11 to December 10.
Industry-Academia Cooperation for Practical Education and Job Placement
The curriculum is structured in three stages, focusing on core Physical AI areas such as Vision, Edge Computing, and Robotics. Stage 1 covers foundational programming and development environment, Stage 2 involves practical advanced projects, and Stage 3 features corporate-linked projects with partner companies. Eleven companies and institutions, including Robotis, Maum AI, and the Korea Electronics Technology Institute (KETI), are participating as industry-academia partners, providing mentoring and internship opportunities. Upon completion, job placement assistance will be offered through a performance presentation attended by corporate HR representatives. Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin stated that this academy will be the starting point for building a 'Seongnam-type AI virtuous cycle ecosystem'.
