Startup Competition Launched by HIRA
The Health Insurance Review and Assessment Service (HIRA) is organizing the '2026 Healthcare Big Data & AI Utilization Startup Competition' to discover creative business models leveraging healthcare big data and artificial intelligence. Now in its 12th year, the competition features two categories: idea planning and product/service development, open to all Korean residents. Applications are accepted online via the healthcare big data open system from April 6 to May 29 at 5 PM.
Evaluation Criteria and Benefits
The evaluation process includes a document review, interviews, and a final presentation. Notably, this year introduces an 'AI Innovation' assessment criterion, focusing on the effective use of AI in analyzing public healthcare data. A total of 16 teams will be awarded, receiving prizes from the Minister of Health and Welfare and the HIRA President, along with a total of 21.6 million KRW in prize money. Awardees will also benefit from waived fees for healthcare big data access for three years, startup support education, investment attraction opportunities, and promotional exhibition booths. The top teams from each category will also qualify for the main round of the '14th Pan-Government Public Data & AI Utilization Startup Competition'.
