Bangkok Planetarium Undergoes Renovation
History and Significance of Bangkok Planetarium
The Bangkok Planetarium is Thailand's first and oldest planetarium, having opened in 1961. It has long been a significant landmark where many Thais first developed an interest in astronomy. The classic ZEISS Mark IV telescope has been a centerpiece, captivating audiences with its celestial projections.
Renovation and Future Prospects
The planetarium recently hosted a special performance titled "To the New Legacy" and screened the "Aurora" movie. These events marked the last viewing opportunities before the ZEISS Mark IV telescope is dismantled for an eight-month repair and renovation period. It is hoped that upon the completion of this extensive refurbishment, the planetarium will attract even more visitors in the future, continuing to hold a special place in the hearts of many Thais for the nostalgia it evokes.
