Gaza Newborns Return to Families After Evacuation to Egypt
Gaza Newborns Reunite with Families After Two Years in Egypt
Infants born during the Israel-Hamas conflict and evacuated to Egypt have finally reunited with their families after two years. These babies required intensive care due to the collapse of Gaza's healthcare system and were initially treated at Al-Shifa Hospital. Ola Hijji gave birth prematurely via Caesarean section, and her baby was immediately transferred to Al-Shifa Hospital before being evacuated to Egypt.
Return Amidst Tragedy and Hopes for the Future
The babies were evacuated to Egypt due to strikes, power cuts, and supply shortages in Gaza. According to Ahmed Al-Farra, Head of the Paediatrics Department at Nasser Hospital, four babies unfortunately died in Egypt, but ten children have now returned in good health to their families. While the families are overjoyed to be reunited, they also express hope that their children's future will not be overshadowed by the tragedy and suffering experienced at the beginning of their lives. The UN reports that 94% of hospitals in Gaza have been damaged or destroyed.
