Fresh Batch of Nigerians Repatriated from Niger
A fresh batch of at least 522 stranded Nigerians has successfully arrived in Nigeria from Niamey, the Niger Republic. The returnees were received by the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) on Sunday, marking a continuation of ongoing voluntary repatriation efforts. According to the News Agency of Nigeria, these returnees, transported in 12 luxury buses, reached the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport in Kano at approximately 5:10 PM for profiling.
Details of the Voluntary Repatriation
Upon receiving the returnees, Nura Abdullahi, the Head of Operations for NEMA Kano Office, clarified that the exercise was entirely voluntary and not a forced evacuation facilitated by the government through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He further detailed that the returnees comprised 267 male adults, 101 female adults, 82 boys, and 72 girls, originating from various parts of Nigeria, including Kano, Jigawa, Bauchi, and other states.
