Indonesian UN Peacekeeper Killed, Several Injured in Southern Lebanon
An Indonesian peacekeeper serving with the UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) was killed and several others were injured by a projectile explosion in southern Lebanon.
Peacekeeper Death in Southern Lebanon
An Indonesian peacekeeper was killed when a projectile exploded at one of its positions near the southern Lebanese village of Adchit al-Qusayr on Sunday. The UN peacekeeping mission in Lebanon (UNIFIL) released a statement early Monday confirming the incident. Channel News Asia reported that the deceased was an Indonesian national.
Injuries Reported and Indonesian Response
UNIFIL stated that another peacekeeper was critically injured in the explosion. On Monday, Indonesia's foreign ministry confirmed the deceased was one of its citizens and added that three other peacekeepers were injured by indirect artillery fire in the vicinity of the Indonesian UNIFIL contingent's position.
