'No Kings' Protests Against Iran War Spread
On Saturday, the third wave of 'No Kings' protests took place across North Carolina, with many participants expressing anger over the Iran war. Thousands of demonstrators marched through Durham's downtown streets and rallied in Central Park, condemning the Trump administration's use of military force in Iran and Venezuela, and threats against Cuba and Greenland. The protest, which lasted about three hours, blocked traffic in downtown Durham.
Veterans and Citizens Call for End to War
Dale Herman, a U.S. Navy veteran who served as a hospital corpsman in the Vietnam War, led the crowd in Central Park in a chant of "No more war!" recounting the pain of watching fellow service members die violent deaths far from home. Herman stated, "There are the costs of lives in combat, and there are the costs of moral injury." Richard Anderson, a retired U.S. Navy Lieutenant, also joined the protest due to his Vietnam experience, opposing the Trump administration's military adventurism and hoping for no more wars.
