President Trump's Signature to Appear on Future US Currency
President's Signature on U.S. Currency
The U.S. Treasury Department has announced that President Donald Trump's signature will appear on all future U.S. paper currency. This marks the first time such a gesture has been made for a sitting president. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent stated, "Under President Trump's leadership, we are on a path toward unprecedented economic growth, lasting dollar dominance and fiscal strength and stability." Bessent suggested there was "no more powerful way" to recognize Trump's achievements than U.S. bills bearing his name.
Commemorative Coins and Controversy
The Treasury also recently announced it will issue a $1 Trump coin, as well as a 24-karat gold commemorative coin with his portrait. However, neither of these coins has received approval from the Citizens Coinage Advisory Council, a nonpartisan group created to advise the Treasury on coin design. This lack of approval raises questions about the adherence to established coin design protocols.
