US Links Security Guarantees to Ceding Donbas
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy told Reuters that the US has made its offer of security guarantees for a peace deal conditional on Kyiv ceding all of the country's eastern region of Donbas to Russia. Donald Trump, focused on the US's own conflict with Iran, is reportedly pressuring Ukraine for a quick end to the four-year war. Zelenskyy noted that the Middle East situation impacts President Trump and his next steps, expressing concern that Trump is choosing a strategy of increased pressure on Ukraine. He emphasized that the eastern part of Ukraine is integral to its security.
Russia's Intelligence Demands and War Updates
Zelenskyy also claimed that Russia sought to blackmail the US, offering to stop sharing military intelligence with Iran if Washington, in turn, cut off Ukraine from its intelligence data. He stated that Ukrainian military intelligence has "irrefutable" evidence of Russia's continued intelligence sharing with Iran, though he provided no further details. In other developments, Russian attacks killed two people in Ukraine's northeastern city of Kharkiv and its surrounding region. A strike on the Danube port of Izamil damaged port facilities and energy infrastructure. Conversely, Ukrainian drone strikes killed two people in Russia's border region of Belgorod.
