West Bank and Gaza: Escalating Israeli Attacks and Deepening Humanitarian Crisis
West Bank Sees Increased Israeli Settler Attacks
Israeli settler attacks against Palestinians are escalating in the occupied West Bank. Following the death of an Israeli settler on March 25 during an alleged attempt to steal a Palestinian vehicle, settlers launched further attacks on Palestinian residents. These attacks involve targeting homes and villages, making life impossible for Palestinians with the ultimate goal of displacing them. Al Jazeera correspondent Nida Ibrahim noted that these actions are being carried out under the 'fog of war,' leveraging regional tensions between Israel and Iran.
Gaza Faces Worsening Humanitarian Crisis and High Death Toll
In Gaza, a silent humanitarian crisis is tightening its grip. Despite a brief reopening of the Rafah crossing, access for aid remains heavily restricted, leading to empty markets and soaring prices for basic necessities. The World Health Organization (WHO) warns that hospitals are on the edge, running out of medicines, supplies, and fuel. Al Jazeera correspondent Tareq Abu Azzoum reported that Gaza's health officials indicate at least 680 Palestinians have been killed since October due to ongoing Israeli attacks. Aid agencies fear a return to famine-like conditions after months of slight improvement, as many humanitarian operations have been halted, causing the safety net to quickly disappear.
