Hong Kong's Aberdeen Site to Feature New 200-Berth Marina by 2032
Aberdeen Marina Redevelopment Plan Unveiled
The Hong Kong government is set to redevelop a section of Hong Kong Island's southwest coast at Aberdeen into a new marina. This project, aimed for completion by 2032, will include 200 berths, a clubhouse, and approximately 250 private flats. The Development Bureau announced on Wednesday its intention to launch a tender in the first half of next year, marking the first marina tender in nearly 40 years.
Market Interest and Government Objectives
The Bureau noted strong market interest in the project. The government's efforts to clear the 1.16-hectare seaside site near Po Chong Wan are part of its broader strategy to boost yacht tourism. This redevelopment is expected to diversify Hong Kong's tourism industry and attract high-value yacht tourism, thereby contributing to economic revitalization.
