Dhurandhar Filmmakers Refute 'Communal Tone' Accusations, Assert Film Reflects Reality
'Dhurandhar' Filmmakers Address 'Communal Tone' Controversy
In an interview with NDTV, the makers of the film 'Dhurandhar' addressed accusations of promoting a 'communal tone,' asserting that the movie reflects the realities of the Kashmir region. Responding to controversy over a provocative dialogue in the trailer stating, 'Hindus are a very cowardly community,' the filmmakers explained that the content is based on actual historical and social situations, including targeted killings of Kashmiri Pandits in the 1990s and recent remarks by the Pakistan Army Chief.
Emphasis on Reality and Diverse Audience Reception
The filmmakers stressed that 'Dhurandhar' does not contain anything against any specific community and is not aimed solely at Hindu audiences. They noted that Muslims, Christians, and other communities are enjoying the film. While banned in the Middle East, it has been well-received in Israel. Furthermore, they highlighted that the INOX Cinema in the Kashmir Valley, which reopened after 30 years, experienced traffic jams due to local Muslim residents flocking to see 'Dhurandhar,' indicating broad appeal.
