Trump Claims 'Very Strong Talks' with Iran, Iran Denies Negotiations
Conflicting Claims from the U.S. and Iran
President Donald Trump asserted that "very strong talks" are in progress with Iran to end the conflict between the two nations. He claimed that "almost all points of agreement" have been reached and that if Iran reopens the Strait of Hormuz, it could be jointly controlled by the U.S. and Iran. Trump issued an ultimatum, giving Iran until Friday to make a deal, warning that if talks do not proceed well, they will "just keep bombing our little hearts out."
Iran's Denial and Market Influence Accusation
In contrast, Iran insisted that "no talks with the U.S. have taken place." Mohammad-Bagher Ghalibaf, Iran's Parliament Speaker, stated that anything otherwise is an attempt to influence the stock market and the price of oil. The current national average price of gasoline is about $3.98 a gallon, with experts predicting a rise to $4 a gallon within 24 hours. Trump mentioned that his son-in-law Jared Kushner and Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Woodkoff are leading the discussions with Iran but did not disclose the identities of their Iranian counterparts.
