China's Xiongan New Area Rises as a 'City of the Future'
Xiongan New Area: A New Hub for Beijing's Non-Essential Functions
The Xiongan New Area in Hebei Province, China, is a national project of millennial significance and a major recipient of functions relieved from Beijing that are non-essential to its role as China's capital. From "a piece of land" to "a blueprint" and now to "a city," it is rapidly rising as a city of the future. Large-scale construction is advancing alongside efforts to relieve Beijing of functions non-essential to its role as China's capital.
Embracing Technology and Sustainable Development
Xiongan is embracing technology and the future. Eight central state-owned enterprise headquarters have been relocated here, and industries such as aerospace information and satellite internet are taking shape in clusters. Total investment has exceeded 1 trillion yuan ($145.5 billion), with more than 5,300 buildings constructed. Xiongan has also introduced full-cycle talent policies, including 16 policy measures to attract talent.
Building a People's City
Efforts are underway to build a modern "people's city" that is both livable and business-friendly, promoting high-quality housing, communities, and urban areas. Forests stretch across the area and waters run clear, with forests, wetlands, lakes, and the city coexisting in harmony. With clear goals and steady steps, Xiongan is moving forward with confidence, making continuous progress in its development.
