Immediate Implementation of Oil Excise Tax Cut
Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. wants the oil excise tax cut bill to be enforced immediately, according to Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro. Castro explained that the bill, which was passed by Congress last week, has not yet reached the President for his signature. The President had previously certified the bill as 'urgent.'
Executive Order to Follow Bill Signing
Undersecretary Castro added that as soon as the President signs the bill, he will immediately issue an order to either reduce or suspend the excise tax. Meanwhile, Senate President Vicente Sotto III stated that the Senate has not yet received an 'enrolled copy' of the bill from the House of Representatives, and therefore he has not signed any documents. Five days have passed since the House approved the bill, but it has not yet been transmitted to the Senate.
