Ehud Barak Expresses Pessimism on Military Solution for Iran's Nuclear Threat
Doubts on Military Solution for Iran's Nuclear Program
Ehud Barak, former Israeli Prime Minister, expressed critical views on current war strategies in an interview with Israeli Channel 13. He emphasized that 'every war needs achievable goals, the means and stamina to carry them out, and a political vision of what you want in the end.' Barak stated that, in his assessment, there is no real military way to remove Iran's 450 kilograms of 60 percent enriched uranium, hoping he is wrong but believing it to be impractical. He recalled previously refuting former Prime Minister Netanyahu's claims of removing the nuclear threat as 'not true.'
Criticism of War Goals and Trust Issues
Barak further argued that neither Israel nor the US can push back the Iranians for more than a few weeks. He criticized that Iran's long-known strategy has not been systematically addressed in situation assessments. Moreover, he pointed out the presence of Hamas after two and a half years of promised total victory, and Hezbollah remaining after claims of pushing them back decades. Barak highlighted the continued existence of Iran's nuclear program and missile threats, expressing concern that the lack of truth and trust has led to a dire situation for Israel.
