Paramedics Brave Israeli Strikes in Destroyed Nabatieh, Lebanon
Nabatieh Devastated by Israeli Airstrikes
Nabatieh, a city in Southern Lebanon, has been severely affected by Israeli airstrikes. Streets are covered in debris, and buildings lie in ruins. This area is a strong stronghold for Hezbollah and a heartland of Lebanon's Shia community. Israel states its actions target Hezbollah fighters launching rockets into northern Israel.
Volunteer Paramedics' Dedicated Efforts
Led by Mohamed Sliman, volunteer paramedics in Nabatieh operate in shifts, working 24 hours a day to search for and assist the injured. They respond swiftly to strike sites to help victims. The team also distributes aid to local residents, as shops are closed and supplies are scarce. Since the war broke out on March 2nd, the local hospital has recorded 97 deaths and treated 260 wounded. Mona Abouzeid, Director of Najdeh Hospital, recounts tragic instances of entire families being wiped out by the conflict.
Constant Threat and Resilient Residents
Residents of Nabatieh endure sleepless nights due to constant air and artillery strikes. Despite evacuation warnings, many refuse to leave their homes. While most of Nabatieh's population is among the one million Lebanese displaced, around 250 residents remain, struggling with limited supplies. The fierce fighting between Hezbollah and Israel continues, exacerbating the region's humanitarian crisis.
