Middle East Energy Facilities Attacked and Energy Prices Surge

Israel launched an attack on an Iranian energy production facility for the first time since the war began, to which Iran retaliated by attacking Ras Laffan Industrial City in Qatar, one of the world's largest liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facilities. This led to a 6% surge in European natural gas prices and a spike in Brent crude to $111 per barrel, causing global energy prices to fluctuate significantly. The 'crossing the line' attacks between the two nations raise concerns of escalating into an energy war of destruction.

Gwanghwamun BTS Concert Buzz and Fan 'Pilgrimage'

With the BTS comeback concert in Gwanghwamun just two days away, final stage setup is in progress. ARMY fans from around the world are making 'pilgrimages' to key locations like Gwanghwamun Plaza and the Sejong Center steps, taking commemorative photos. Nearby shops are also bustling, welcoming fans with BTS-themed items like purple straws and Suga Chewy Cookies. Seoul city anticipates up to 260,000 attendees and has deployed 6,500 police officers and 800 firefighters to ensure safety and prevent terrorism.

Domestic Tragedies: Family Deaths and Elderly Driver Accidents

In Ulju-gun, Ulsan, a 30-year-old father and his four children, aged 7, 4, 2, and a 5-month-old infant, were found dead. The tragic discovery was made after the eldest child's primary school teacher reported their absence from the entrance ceremony, prompting police intervention. The family had received emergency living support last year, but the father had not applied for basic livelihood benefits despite recommendations from local authorities. Meanwhile, in Hongseong-gun, South Chungcheong Province, a 79-year-old elderly driver in a pickup truck reversed into and killed a 90-year-old woman. The driver had reportedly been providing 'transportation volunteer' services for local elders for 10 years, adding to the tragedy. The issue of elderly drivers in trucks lacking safety features, combined with insufficient public transportation in rural areas, exacerbates accident risks.

Public Park Slingshot Incident: Conflict over Noise

In a public park in Gwangju, a 20-year-old citizen was slightly injured after being hit in the face by a steel ball. Police arrested Kim, a 56-year-old man living near the park, two days after the incident and requested an arrest warrant. Investigations revealed that Kim had previously filed multiple complaints about noise from the park, such as people playing badminton. He reportedly opened his window and fired the steel ball towards the park, approximately 50 meters away. Police requested the arrest warrant considering the seriousness of the case, the risk of recidivism, and the possibility of flight.
