The 'Medical Korea 2026' conference, co-hosted by the Ministry of Health and Welfare and the Korea Health Industry Development Institute, has commenced in Gangnam, Seoul. The event, held under the theme "AI-Powered Global Healthcare: Bringing the Future and the World Closer," focuses on sustainable development strategies for medical tourism and related industries. The opening sessions provided a platform for sharing global medical trends and analyzing how emerging technologies are reshaping the healthcare system.
Emphasizing AI Technology and Global Collaboration
Keynote speakers highlighted the importance of expanding global network participation among medical professionals and leveraging AI-based tools for communication. Edward Marx, CEO of Marx Advisory, specifically noted the worldwide need for AI technology and praised Korea's leading role in this field. Additionally, Professor Hyun, Chul S. from Yale School of Medicine stressed that while AI accelerates the globalization of healthcare, the primary challenge in cross-border medical services remains building a trusted network among physicians. Lee Hee-jin, Clinical Fellow at Asan Medical Center, International Healthcare Center, explained the growing impact of AI-integrated clinical platforms on the healthcare industry.
K-Medical Exhibition Explores Overseas Expansion
The event also featured the K-Medical Exhibition, showcasing a wide range of AI-integrated medical services, from AI-based skin analysis to personalized treatments and counseling. Hospitals from across the nation ran promotional booths to introduce their medical services and foster long-term collaborations. Furthermore, business meetings were held to facilitate networking between overseas patients and domestic medical institutions, aiming to establish tangible partnerships.
