Four Palestinian Women Killed by Missile Shrapnel in West Bank's Beit Awwa
Tragic Incident in the West Bank
Four Palestinian women were tragically killed in the town of Beit Awwa, in the occupied West Bank, when shrapnel from what is believed to be an Iranian missile struck a hair salon. Two of the victims were reportedly heavily pregnant and had gathered to prepare for the Eid al-Fitr celebrations. According to Al Jazeera, 13 others were wounded, with two in critical condition.
Missile Debris and Delayed Response
While it is unclear if the shrapnel came directly from an Iranian missile or an Israeli interceptor, Palestinian authorities suggest that evidence points to Israeli interceptors. Israel does not disclose the locations of its air defense systems, but many are situated between Palestinian villages. The Palestinian Red Crescent reported that ambulance crews faced significant delays reaching the scene due to Israeli military gates, impacting the 'golden hour' for life-saving treatment.
Palestinians Caught in the Crossfire
The town of Beit Awwa is now in mourning, and residents are expressing deep fears for their safety. Palestinians lament being caught in the middle of this conflict, with no shelters, safe zones, defense systems, or guidance on what to do during an attack. Since the US and Israel launched their offensive, authorities have recorded at least 189 incidents of missile fragments and debris falling in Palestinian communities. These latest deaths are only intensifying fears and raising critical questions about safety.
