UN WFP Warns of 45 Million More Facing Hunger if Iran War Continues
Escalating Hunger Crisis Due to Prolonged Iran War
The UN World Food Programme (WFP) has issued a warning that if the Iran war persists until June, an additional 45 million people worldwide could face severe hunger. Deputy Executive Director Carl Skau stated that the current number of people suffering from hunger has tripled over the past five years, reaching 319 million. The prolonged Middle East conflict is feared to exacerbate the already critical global food crisis.
Worsening Delays in Food Aid Deliveries to Poor Nations
The WFP also reported that it is experiencing significant delays in delivering food supplies to impoverished nations due to the ongoing war. This impacts not only conflict zones but also many countries globally with vulnerable food supply chains, becoming a major cause of surging hunger numbers. Urgent international efforts are needed to resolve the conflict and expand humanitarian aid.
