During WION's 'Defence Pulse: Defence & Deterrence' panel discussion, Ankit Mehta highlighted the expanding role of the private sector in India's security architecture as a new and significant development. He emphasized the importance of support provided by young companies like Ideaforge to the Indian Armed Forces. Notably, Ideaforge drones have been utilized by the Indian Army for surveillance purposes during Operation Sindoor.
Future Warfare and the Significance of Indigenous Technology
Mehta stated that Ideaforge has been developing and designing every subsystem for its platforms domestically for the past two decades. He explained that as future warfare increasingly relies on robotics and software-defined systems, rapid adaptation on the ground becomes critical. He further stressed that adversaries' countermeasures and counter-countermeasures are evolving faster than ever before. Therefore, developing indigenous capabilities for adaptation is essential to maintaining strategic autonomy. He anticipates an unprecedented acceleration of these private sector contributions in the coming years.
