Hong Kong to test new campsite booking system amid overcrowding, litter concerns

Hong Kong authorities are planning to introduce pilot schemes for a campsite booking system in the city before the National Day holiday in October. Secretary for Environment and Ecology Tse Chin-wan informed the Legislative Council of this development on Wednesday. The initiative aims to address issues such as overcrowding and littering at campsites.
Prosecutions During Chinese New Year Holiday
The authorities disclosed that 32 people were prosecuted for various offenses in Sai Kung’s country parks during the recent Chinese New Year holiday period. Most of those prosecuted were identified as non-locals, primarily charged with littering. This highlights the ongoing challenges of managing public recreational spaces.
