Maryville College to Host AI Summit Exploring AI Across Education, Business, and Society
Second Annual AI Summit to Cover Broad Topics
Maryville College will host its second annual AI Summit this spring at the Downtown Center. The event will bring together educators, technologists, nonprofit leaders, and business professionals to explore how artificial intelligence is transforming classrooms, workplaces, and the way communities consider ethics, culture, and the environment. This year's summit aims to broaden the conversation, focusing on how AI impacts work and communities across various sectors.
Analyzing AI's Societal Impact Through a Liberal Arts Lens
Maryville College's AI Initiative encourages a thoughtful exploration of artificial intelligence through the lens of the liberal arts, rather than solely as a technical innovation. This approach invites students, faculty, and community partners to examine AI's ethical implications, social impact, and practical applications across disciplines. Dr. Niklas Trzaskowski, director of the Maryville College Career Center and one of the summit’s organizers, emphasized that AI raises questions far beyond technology. He noted that a liberal arts environment is ideal for bringing diverse perspectives—from education, business, ethics, and culture—to discuss how these tools should be used and the future they can build.
