Last Pro-Palestine Protester Released From US Detention After Year in Prison
Last Protester from Trump Administration Crackdown Released
Leqaa Kordia, the final pro-Palestinian protester still in immigration detention following the Donald Trump administration's 2025 crackdown on activists, has been released after a year in custody. The Palestinian activist was freed from a US immigration detention center in Texas this March. Kordia, a 33-year-old from the occupied West Bank, had resided in New Jersey since 2016 and was among approximately 100 people arrested outside Columbia University during protests in 2024.
Vows to Continue Fight Against Injustice
Upon her release, Kordia stated, "What's next? We're going to keep fighting. There is a lot of injustice in this place. There are a lot of people that shouldn't be here in the first place." She affirmed, "We're going to keep fighting for them. We're not going to forget them." Kordia emphasized her commitment to collective freedom, saying, "And we're not free until everybody is free." She expressed deep gratitude for the support she received, noting, "I don't know what I would be or where would I be without this support. Thank God, thank you, I appreciate you."
