Asia's Largest Tulip Garden Opens in 2026
Srinagar, India's largest tulip garden in Asia, opened to the public on March 16 for the 2026 spring season. The opening was advanced from its originally planned date in the last week of March due to changes in weather patterns. Located between the Dal Lake and Zabarwan Hills, the tulip garden is a major attraction for tourists visiting the Kashmir Valley. The Kashmir Floriculture Department has planted approximately 1.8 million tulip bulbs this year. This is expected to attract an even higher turnout than last year's 825,000 visitors.
Boosting Tourism with Tulip Festival
The garden features around 70 vibrant varieties of tulips, along with an additional 100,000 bulbs of other spring-blooming plants, providing a rich display of colors. The density of the flowerbeds has been increased to create an even more breathtaking floral panorama. Tourist Lalit Kumar described Kashmir as "truly a paradise" and compared it to Switzerland, highlighting the warmth and hospitality of its people. Another tourist, Shreya Singh, stated that the "tulip garden is incredibly beautiful, and the whole of Kashmir feels peaceful and calm." This opening marks the beginning of the tourism season in Kashmir and is expected to significantly contribute to the local economy.
