Lingnan University Showcases 'AI+X' Innovation at Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions
Lingnan University achieved a historic success at the 51st Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions, with all 13 of its submitted inventions receiving awards. This outstanding result includes one Jury Commendation Gold Medal, five Gold Medals, three Silver Medals, and four Bronze Medals. The number of participating and awarded projects more than doubled compared to the previous year, setting a new record for the university and demonstrating its international prowess in groundbreaking interdisciplinary research.
The award-winning inventions integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) with diverse applications (AI + X), spanning multiple fields such as 'AI + Creativity', 'AI + Humanities', 'AI + Teaching', 'AI + Sustainability', and 'AI + Trustworthy Technology'. These projects cut across data science, advanced materials, sustainable energy, art technology, and innovative education, showcasing Lingnan University's achievements in interdisciplinary collaboration and human-centered innovation, ultimately contributing positively to societal development and community well-being.
Key Award Winners: From Wireless Charging Robots to Smart Cooling Systems
The research project awarded the Jury Commendation Gold Medal was 'FlexiBot: Wireless Charging Robot for Electric Vehicles', led by Professor Tang Xiaopeng's team. FlexiBot provides wireless charging for EVs in any parking space, autonomously positioning itself near charging piles and being compatible with all EV brands via a module and adapter. The system also intelligently schedules charging times to avoid peak hours, reducing grid load and saving costs for car owners.
Among the five Gold Medal-winning projects were 'Smart Cool: Human-Computer Interaction AI Smart Air Conditioning Demand Prediction System' led by President Qin Sizhao's team; 'BuildGuard: AI + Blockchain Platform for Real-time Compliance Detection in Remote Manufacturing' by Professor Wu Liupengfei; 'AI Conversational Scanning Identification System' by Professor Shen Jiaxing's team; 'Ultra-high Safety and High Energy All-solid-state Lithium Battery' by Professor Chen Ze's team; and 'StorySketcher: Child-led AI Story Creation Platform' by Professor Xu Xian.
