Iraqi Resistance Group Claims Attacks on US Bases
The Iraqi resistance group, Saraya Awliya al-Dam, has released footage claiming responsibility for a series of bold attacks on US military installations in Iraq. According to the group, these strikes were carried out in retaliation for US and Israeli operations that reportedly targeted Iranian leadership and its allies. Among the targets were a US site in Erbil, a key northern hub for American military operations, and the strategic Victoria Base near Baghdad, which also hosts US forces.
Heightened Regional Tensions and Turkey's Mediation Efforts
Analysts warn that these attacks mark a new chapter in the regional Iran-US conflict, where proxy and local forces are increasingly challenging the American presence, turning every strike into both a military and a political statement. Amid the escalating violence, Turkey's Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan stated that there is currently no serious initiative to resume direct negotiations between the United States and Iran. However, he suggested that Tehran may still be open to back-channel talks, signaling that diplomacy, however fragile, could offer a way to prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
