DMK Confident in Tamil Nadu 2026 Elections, Promises 'People-Driven' Manifesto
DMK Confident of Electoral Victory Based on CM Stalin's Performance
Following the announcement of the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly election dates, the DMK (Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam) expressed strong confidence in securing a victory. Dr. Syed Hafeezullah, the DMK Spokesperson, stated that the government led by Chief Minister M. K. Stalin has diligently worked for the welfare of the people of Tamil Nadu through initiatives like the 'Oor Anil Tamil Nadu' campaign over the past six months. He highlighted the government's strong record in economic growth, policy implementation, and social welfare measures, which have been well-received by the public and reflected in human development indices. The upcoming DMK manifesto, he added, will be a 'people-driven' document, incorporating inputs from various stakeholders.
Dismissal of Opposition Realignment Concerns and Alliance Unity
Dr. Syed Hafeezullah also addressed speculation regarding a potential alliance between actor Vijay's party and the AIADMK, dismissing any concerns. He affirmed that the DMK is fighting the election based on its own strengths and those of its allies, rather than on the weaknesses of the opposition. Regarding criticisms on women's safety and sexual assault, he acknowledged that such incidents occur but emphasized the government's swift and appropriate action in securing convictions for perpetrators, unlike previous administrations. He also touched upon the initial hard bargaining within the alliance, particularly with the Congress party, but underscored that all discussions have led to a logical conclusion due to the ideological alignment of the coalition. He declared that the election is a battle of Tamil Nadu versus the NDA and the BJP, asserting the collective commitment to protect Tamil rights, Tamil identity, state autonomy, and secularism.
