Reasons for Choosing to Study in China
International students at Yenching Academy of Peking University explained their individual reasons for choosing to study in China. Rory Robert D'Angelo stated he has always been deeply interested in Chinese history, culture, and language, and was drawn to Beijing as a city rich in cultural heritage. He expressed satisfaction with the Yenching Academy program, which provided him with in-depth learning through interaction with China scholars. Krupa Chandra Sekhar was exposed to Chinese culture indirectly through the multicultural environment of New York and decided to study in China after developing an interest in China's rapid urbanization. She described her experience of immersing herself in the culture and learning about urbanization from within China as a perfect choice.
Value of Chinese Study Experience and Future Aspirations
Nicole Accalia Angriawan expressed her ambition to share the knowledge and experiences gained at Yenching Academy with her home country, Indonesia. She aims to become a "connector" who conveys insights into China's history and development to the Indonesian public. Additionally, she plans to invite the amazing people she met in China to Indonesia and encourage more Indonesian youth to study in China. Dong Qiang, Dean of Yenching Academy, emphasized that true education comes from students traveling around China to experience the country firsthand, combining the energy of young people with the vitality of China. He anticipates that their experiences in China will become a key part of their career development.
