3 Afghan Nationals Arrested in Japan for Dismantling Stolen SUV for UAE Export
Arrests Made Over Stolen Luxury SUV
Three Afghan nationals, including suspect Batool Hayat, have been arrested on suspicion of keeping a stolen luxury SUV in a yard in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture, in October last year. According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the vehicle was stolen from a residence in Chiba City, and the suspects allegedly dismantled it within the yard.
Attempted Parts Export and Expanding Investigation
Some of the dismantled parts were found loaded into a container for export to the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The Metropolitan Police Department searched the container in November last year and confiscated the disassembled vehicle parts. All three suspects deny the allegations, stating they have 'absolutely no recollection'. In addition to the SUV, parts for eight other vehicles were also discovered in the container, and the Metropolitan Police Department is currently investigating potential connections to other cases.
