Amnesty International Condemns Israel's 'Starvation Strategy'
In August 2025, Amnesty International released a report condemning Israel for conducting an intentional starvation campaign in the Gaza Strip. Citing testimonies from starving individuals, the report stated that Israel is "systematically destroying the health, welfare, and social foundations of Palestinian life." The report highlighted that the widespread starvation and disease within the Gaza Strip are not a collateral outcome of military operations, but rather the result of an Israeli plan aiming for the "physical destruction" of Palestinians.
Strategy of Forced Displacement Through Starvation Identified
Middle East Eye (MEE) analyzed how the Israeli military used starvation as a tool to forcibly displace Palestinians from the Gaza Strip. Through restrictions on aid, destruction of agricultural land, dismantling of humanitarian systems, and repeated evacuation orders, Gaza Strip residents were pushed from one area to another, facing famine-level conditions. This supports the suspicion that Israel deliberately exacerbated food shortages to move residents to specific areas.
